lauttimur.com - In Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) farming, various devices and components are used to maintain water quality and support the growth and health of farmed animals. Here are some of the devices commonly used in RAS systems:

1.    Cultivation Tanks
Tanks are where fish or other aquaculture organisms are cultured. These tanks can be circular, rectangular, or even tunnel-shaped in a tunnel RAS system.

2.    Mechanical Filters
Mechanical filters are used to remove solid particles and impurities from the water. These can be mechanical filters such as double screens, filter drums, or filter presses.

3.    Biological Filters
Biological filters are used to break down ammonia and other nitrogen compounds produced by fish waste into less harmful forms. Biological filters usually contain media that houses decomposing bacteria.

4.    Aerator
Aerators are used to supply dissolved oxygen into the water. This is important to ensure that fish or other aquaculture organisms have sufficient access to the oxygen needed to breathe.

5.    Pumps
Pumps are used to circulate water from one component to another in the RAS system. This includes general water pumps for circulation and air pumps for aeration.

6.    Heating and Cooling
RAS systems require heating and cooling to control the water temperature within a range suitable for the growth of fish or other aquaculture organisms.

7.    Sensors and Measurement Equipment
Sensors are used to monitor important parameters such as water temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. This helps the manager to take action if there are any undesirable changes in these parameters.

8.    Automated Monitoring and Control System
Automation systems are used to monitor and control environmental parameters automatically. This can include temperature control, water pumping settings, and automatic feeding.

9.    UV Filtration System
UV filtration systems are used to remove pathogenic microorganisms from water using ultraviolet light.

10.    Ozone Filtration System
Some RAS systems use ozone to rid water of germs and pathogens, helping to improve water quality.

11.    Water Treatment System
This can include the addition of chemicals to control water quality, such as ammonia reducers or water quality enhancers.

12.    Used Water Collection Tank
Used water from fish farming that has gone through the filtration and purification process can be collected and managed before being discharged or recycled.

Each RAS system may have different device configurations depending on the species farmed, the size of the operation, and the environmental conditions where the farming takes place.
