lauttimur.com - Grilled tuna steaks are a classic favorite, where the fish is marinated to enhance its natural flavors and then cooked to perfection on a hot grill. The quick cooking time ensures a tender and juicy interior with a slightly charred exterior, creating a delightful contrast in each bite. Tuna can also be seared in a hot pan to create a caramelized crust while keeping the center rare or medium-rare. This method highlights the fish's rich flavor and is often used in dishes like tuna tataki or sushi.

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. This will be the marinade for the tuna steaks.
  2. Place the tuna steaks in the marinade, turning them to coat both sides. Let them marinate for about 15-30 minutes at room temperature. If you prefer, you can marinate them in the refrigerator for a few hours.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade and discard the marinade. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.
  5. Place the tuna steaks on the preheated grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the cooking time according to your desired level of doneness. Avoid overcooking, as tuna can become dry and tough.
  6. Once done, remove the tuna steaks from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the fish.
  7. Serve the tuna steaks hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired. They can be enjoyed as is or served with a side of steamed vegetables, a salad, or rice.

Note: Tuna steaks can also be cooked on a stovetop grill pan or broiled in the oven if you don't have access to an outdoor grill. Adjust the cooking time accordingly.

Enjoy your delicious grilled tuna steaks!
